Can I substitute evaporated milk for light or heavy whipping cream in ice cream recipes?

I'm trying to make ice cream and all I have is whole milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk. Can I make it work? Every recipe I have calls for half and half or heavy cream.
yes you can . it just wont get as creamy, but go to www.allracipes.com and they have ice cream made with cam milk and it is delicious

I don’t think so although I’ve never tried it. I think you
need the butterfat. Try condensed and whole milk.

I would use your whole milk, and maybe add a little sugar. I’ve substituted even skim milk in some recipes (because I don’t like all the extra fat in heavy cream), but I don’t know how that would work with ice cream. But I would try your whole milk. Good luck!

Oh sure, it will. I make an ice cream w/these 3 milks (and cream to top it off), sugar & vanilla to taste & it works out just great. Call me when it’s ready!
