Best ICE CREAM MAKER?
i am think to buy a ice cream maker for this coming summer, but i have no idea where to start. i want to know to how to choose ice cream maker at best value. any good deals are welcomed. note: i want it with only basic functions, not too complicated. moreover i prefer i can get it from big stores in nyc.

Just get the most poplular brand. Like, say you wanted to buy a DVD player, you’d either chose Sony or some other really well-known company.
Do the same thing, except for it would be a kitchen-ware company. I would go online and check the ratings of different brands.

I go to New York City two times a year but I don’t really look into ice cream machines.
I just go get the awesome food, central park, empire state building, all the good places. I LOVE the Carnegie deli!!!
I don’t know about the spelling but super awesome sandwhiches and cheese cake!

Cuisnart Electric Ice cream Maker. Costs about 50 bucks. Ive had mine for almost 2 years. Whipping cream, milk, sugar and vanilla…and no kidding, you have ice cream in 25 minutes. Easy to operate. Simple on and off switch. Best thing since super glue!!! I got mine from Sam’s Club but you can find them online too.

I like my Cuisinart too, it does a great job. Also, try going to your local big department store where the staff know about the products and ask them, they can be helpful sometimes.

I’ll 2nd (or 3rd) the Cuisinart model. It is a good one, makes good ice cream, simple to use & clean. Good price too. (Short of spending thousands on the fancy professional things, I think you’ll be pleased.) Draw back: small bowl.
I have the Cuisinart & do use it, but for my larger recipes, I use the ATTACHMENT piece (bowl) for my KitchenAid stand mixer. About the same price, but makes larger batches & I don’t have to store yet another machine.
Draw back on both: they require planning or freezer space to freeze the bowl. Pro: no need to get bags of ice & salt to cool the mixture.
I was at the local RiteAid a couple of days back & they have a summer sale…get this…5 bucks for a name brand (Rival, I think) machine that uses the ice and salt method, but makes up to 4 quarts at a time!!! If you’re having a party, that should cover you! I have the same machine & it makes excellent ice cream too. But one has to do the ice & salt thing. On the other hand, when you stop it & scoop the ice cream, you don’t have to rush like with the frozen bowls.
Up to you. 5 bucks, 50 bucks…both do a good job. Oh, you’ll want to figure out the kind of ice cream you wish to make. The more butter fat (denser creams) the richer the ice cream. Experiment & have fun! Write it you want my best ice cream recipe: Lemon Cheesecake! Yum!

I have a Rival Icecream maker and I paid little over $20 dollars for it. I got it at Walmart. It makes really good icecream. You have to use the salt and the ice to cool the mixture though which is the only drawback. Most icecream makers come with a recipe book, so you can go by it and make your icecream. The best one I have ever tasted was the rocky road. YUM YUM.
